lah dee dah

duplicated and slightly modified post from my myspace page:

sooooo... i've been pretty silent on the music front. nothing new to report... oh wait! someone posted on buzzgriner that i was almost done with a whole record. sad to say that that is not true at the moment. as much as i would love to have a whole record ready to put out that is currently not the case.

but here IS what's indeed going on with me:

+ i start classes in one week to start chipping away at a graphic design degree.

+ i bought a macbook pro to help me with school... but hopefully having the program garageband will help with some new ideas i have for music. who knows... maybe i'll even post some demos on myspace eventually.

+ jeremy (from TSG) and i have been talking about writing some new music and possibly recording some stuff... what exact shape this will take remains to be seen. maybe some of it will show up on the myspace page, maybe it will not.

+ i've really been enjoying directions in music and the new robin guthrie record.

well time to start cooking dinner before the wife gets home...

p.s. yayyy for macs! oh how i love mine!

new purchases 05.25.2006

Robin Guthrie - Continental

Cocteau Twins fans rejoice! Post Rock/Instrumental fans rejoice! Beautifully crafted pieces of sonic goodness form the 'Twins six-string slinger.

Mammatus - Mammatus

Holy space-errific stoner rock! Think Hawkwind meets Cave In... sorta. Anyway, I walked into Grimey's and this was playing on the overheads. Very cool. I was informed that they'd be playing in Murfreesboro next month... I'll have to try and check them out.

School Books! The "Logo, Font & Lettering Bible" book looks really cool. Classes start in one week!

on cinema air

Upcoming movies I am excited about:

Superman Returns. Bryan Singer did a fantastic job with the first two X-Men movies and now he's directing this. While Batman is my favorite character from the DC camp, this movie looks better and better with each bit of footage that is released. I'm in.

click me!

The Fountain. Based on director Darren Aronofsky's graphic novel of the same name. A co-worker of mine has me reading the book and I must say I'm intrigued. Plus the trailer for the movie looked pretty cool. The above image is a promotional image done by the amazing James Jean, who is one my favorite illustrators.

I still want to see Art School Confidential even though it got some horrible reviews. And I recently watched The Squid And The Whale, which was altogether interesting, absurd, funny and probably totally plausible.

Off we go!

New blog. New location. New whatever.

'hoping for this to be a central place for all things I venture to get myself into... i.e. comics, art, music, random geeking out about whatever and the like. Eventually I hope to have this hosted at www.telemetrytapes.com or something similar. Wouldn't that be special?

As of today... I'm registered for classes at Nashville State to begin chipping away at a degree in graphic design, have plans to begin learning flash from some of the guys at work, am busy convincing my friend Tim to write new music and let me play bass for him and I'm getting ready to order myself a 15" Macbook Pro. Yay for new toys. This will be my first Mac.

Please feel free to lurk, comment, laugh...whatever...

All two of you.
